A: Life Musique Academy (LMA) promotes understanding music theory rudiments as a foundation for students who would like to proceed to higher level of music studies such as Harmony, Counterpoint and Analysis, based on the 2023 Edition of the Canadian RCM Theory Syllabus., and to connect music history with the forms and styles of studied pieces so that it is an all-rounded based music syllabus.

For written form theory exams especially the Level 8 Theory, LMA primarily focuses on completing mock exercises and pass papers. The underlying idea is “the higher the volume of completed pass exams, the higher the grade of actual exam expected”. We have a library of pass exams (2007 ~ 2024) covering the 2023 Edition of the Canadian RCM Theory Syllabus.

Q: What is the language of classroom instructions and the form of classes?
A: Life Musique Academy (LMA) has music theory teachers who converse in English as the major language of instruction, and Chinese (Cantonese & Mandarin) as a supplementary media for further clarification and support. A: Life Musique Academy (LMA) expects students to have a laptop or desktop computer and a Google account.

The other critical requirement is the student should already have achieved level 6 or 7 in their practical studies of musical instrument. The Canadian RCM Syllabus has developed a structure to co relate each level of theory to each level of practical studies. They have named the term co-requisites. Level 8 Theory Exam is the last level of music theory rudiments before studying harmony, counterpoint and analysis.

There are 4 major levels of Theory Exams: Level 5, Level 6, Level 7, and Level 8. Level 8 Exam is more or less the final exam and it encompasses everything covered from Level 1 up to Level 8.
